Packers: Five players to watch vs. Lions in Week 5
By Jesse Fry
Five players to watch for the Green Bay Packers in Week 5.
The Packers (2-1-1) head to Detroit (1-3) on the heels of a shutout victory over the Bills.
Despite the defensive performance, most of the talk during the week had less to do with the victory and more about the supposed rift between quarterback Aaron Rodgers and head coach Mike McCarthy.
Rodgers’ critical comments about the offense’s performance on Sunday were not unfounded. Dropped passes, missed throws and an overall lack of execution led to only two touchdowns and 22 points.
It was a game the Packers could have easily put up 30-plus points. The execution will need to be better this week.
Matthew Stafford is a top-tier quarterback and the Lions have a finally found a running game with rookie Kerryon Johnson.
On defense the Lions are more of a mystery. They rank at the bottom of the league in run defense and in the top three in pass defense.
The Packers will also be battling injuries as they head into Ford Field. Their top three receivers are all on the injury report. Randall Cobb (hamstring) is ruled out, and Geronimo Allison (concussion) could be sitting this one out.
On the plus side, it looks like the defense will get back Kevin King.
It will be a tough task in Detroit, so let’s look at some key players to the Week 5 showdown.
