5. Aaron Jones

Last, but certainly not least, on this list is Aaron Jones.

In Jones’ first two games back from suspension, he has 107 yards on 17 carries for a 6.29 yards-per-carry average. Coach McCarthy has been steadfast if not stubborn on his use of Jones.

McCarthy insists on using all three running backs in his stable and not focusing on just one. Jones has the talent to make him change his mind.

If Jones starts the way he has the previous two games, it will be hard for McCarthy to not commit to him as the featured back.

As previously stated, the Packers will be short-handed at the receiver position. With the Lions defense ranked last in the league against the run, the Packers will have to rely heavily on the ground game.

Jones’ explosiveness and shifty moves may have to carry the load. I’m sure McCarthy will use all three backs throughout the game. There will be a time and place to use Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery, but the Packers’ best chance to win will be riding Jones.

It was about this time last year when Jones showed his value racking up 125 yards rushing versus the Cowboys. It might be time to show it again.

The Packers defense will have to play big in this game. An offense short a few weapons will need all the help it can get. A few turnovers to give the offense a short field could go a long way in this game.

The Packers have been in a position like this before. In 2016 the Packers went into Atlanta and played the Falcons with Trevor Davis and Geronimo Allison playing key roles. The task might be more difficult this time around, but with Rodgers under center the Packers always have a chance.
