After Sunday’s loss to the Lions, the Green Bay Packers are down to 12th in the FanSided power rankings.

After losing for the second time in three weeks, the Green Bay Packers have fallen five spots to 12th in the FanSided power rankings after Week 5.

The Packers made the worst possible start at Detroit, falling behind 24-0 at halftime. Despite improving in the second half, it wasn’t enough for the Miracle in Motown Part II.

It was the same story as two weeks ago in Washington for the Packers: a terrible start filled with mistakes.

At Washington, dropped passes and missed throws cost them. At Detroit it was special teams errors, including five missed kicks by Mason Crosby.

After the loss to Detroit, the Packers have fallen from seventh to 12th in the FanSided power rankings. Here’s what Russell S. Baxter of FanSided wrote about the team:

"“The Packers certainly don’t look like a team in sync these days and it’s more than just the injuries at wide receiver. Crosby’s kicking woes have certainly hurt the club and there is a lack of complimentary football being played by McCarthy’s squad. Fortunately, Green Bay gets an extra day to try and fix things this week.”"

It would be too easy to blame the missed kicks or the fact Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison were out for this game. The Packers have been unable to put together a complete game all season long.

And the struggles on offense are nothing new. The unit has been up-and-down all year long.

The Packers will be hoping this team is closer to its 2014 version than 2015 or even 2016.

Four years ago, Green Bay overcame a 1-2 start (including a loss at Detroit), which prompted Aaron Rodgers‘ “R-E-L-A-X” comments. Following that moment, the team went 11-2 the rest of the way and made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game.

The following year was almost the opposite. A fast 6-0 start looked good on paper, but the struggles on offense were becoming an issue. The Packers went 4-6 in their final 10, and then started the 2016 season 4-6 before Rodgers said they could “run the table”, which, of course, they did.

Green Bay has a lot to improve, particularly on offense, and it needs to happen quickly.
