1. Davante Adams
On a day where two of the top three receivers were missing due to injury, the number one stepped up. Davante Adams finished with nine catches for 140 yards and a touchdown.
The only complaint could be Adams not coming down with a difficult pass late in the game. The missed catch led to another missed field goal, where a touchdown could’ve given the Packers a better chance at a comeback.
But that pass was just as much badly thrown as it was dropped. It would have been a tough catch to make as it was. If Rodgers hits Adams in stride that’s an easy touchdown.
A week after Rodgers suggested he didn’t do enough to get Adams the ball, he made sure not to repeat that mistake. It wasn’t just the numbers for Adams either. Rodgers was looking for Adams on just about every critical third or fourth down and the Lions knew it. Yet, there was nothing they could do to stop Rodgers from hitting Adams.
The Packers needed a game like this from their top receiver. With Randall Cobb (hamstring) and Geronimo Allison (hamstring/concussion) out, Adams was the Packers’ only proven wide receiver.
If not for Crosby and the loss, we might be discussing Adams’ performance more.
