Packers: Five players to watch vs. 49ers in Week 6
By Jesse Fry
5. Aaron Rodgers
Any given week you could say Aaron Rodgers is the key to the game. He is a two-time MVP and arguably the best quarterback in the game. But this week is different. While his stats this season have been good, anyone who has watched the Packers play can see something is off with Rodgers.
Rodgers has been battling a left knee injury since the season opener against Chicago. But that can’t explain his sudden loss of accuracy. Rodgers appears to have little trust in his current group of receivers, and that includes Jimmy Graham. Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison seem to be the only receivers Rodgers has faith in.
With Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison questionable to play in this game, Rodgers may have to rely on rookies Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown again. He can’t hesitate to hit the open guy, even if it is either MVS or St. Brown.
The Green Bay Packers and Rodgers would love to get some kind of momentum going on offense before the bye week, which follows Monday night’s game. A big game by Rodgers this week could be a catalyst going into a tough five-week stretch that awaits the Packers after the bye.
