Packers could be much healthier in Week 8 vs. Rams
The Green Bay Packers could have three starters back in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Rams.
Rookie cornerback Jaire Alexander and wide receivers Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison have all missed time due to injuries.
But with an extra week to get healthy, the Packers will hope to have all three back in Sunday’s game against the LA Rams.
According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, all three will practice on Tuesday.
It’s early in the week, but this is encouraging news. The Packers will need them against the NFL’s only undefeated team this week.
Getting Alexander back could be the most important, as Mike Pettine’s defense faces its toughest test of the season.
The Rams are averaging 445.3 yards on offense per game, second most in the NFL. They also rank third in scoring offense, averaging 33.6 points per game.
The Packers will struggle to slow down the Rams offense, but getting Alexander back would help.
The offense has been up-and-down this year. While rookie Marquez Valdes-Scantling has played well — making seven catches for 171 yards and a touchdown in the past two games — getting Cobb and Allison back would be great news.
Aaron Rodgers trusts both to be in the right place at the right time, and we saw in Week 1 just how much of an impact they can have on the game.
To have any chance of winning on Sunday the Packers will need to score a lot of points, and being fully healthy at wide receiver will help.
Another player to watch this week is Rodgers, who has been limited so far this season with a knee injury. Time will tell whether the extra week off has helped him get closer to 100 percent.
The Packers face a tough challenge against the Rams on Sunday. But the good news is that they have a chance to enter this game a lot healthier with the help of the bye week.
