Returning from their bye week, the Green Bay Packers remain seventh in the FanSided power rankings for Week 8.

The Packers are entering arguably the toughest part of their schedule, facing four road games in five weeks against teams in playoff contention.

Green Bay will play at Lambeau Field just one more time before December. With only three wins on the season so far, all at home, Mike McCarthy’s team best figure out how to win on the road.

This five-game stretch could define the Packers’ season, but with road games against the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots (who are a combined 12-2 this season) in the next two weeks, not many will expect anything but a 3-4-1 record for the Packers by the time they next play at home.

FanSided’s Matt Verderame summed up it perfectly in the FanSided power rankings:

“The next five games include road dates with the Rams, Patriots, Seahawks and Vikings. Good luck,” Verderame wrote.

Well said.

To have a chance of winning the NFC North, the Packers can’t afford to lose all four of their upcoming road games.

On paper, the easiest looks to be at Seattle in Week 11. But that game will be played on a Thursday night, which means the Packers will have to travel to one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL on a short week.

And the Seahawks, currently 3-3, have played well this year. They have now won three of their past four games, the only loss coming against the undefeated Los Angeles Rams.

But even that game was close; the Seahawks lost 33-31. They led in the fourth quarter and came close to giving the Rams their first loss of the season.

But for the Packers, winning in Seattle might be necessary to stay in contention during this tough five-week run of games.

But that’s a conversation for then. Maybe Green Bay will win three straight before that game.

It all starts on Sunday in Los Angeles. Win there and the Packers will be talked about as serious NFC contenders.

That’s the difference one win for this team could make.
