The Green Bay Packers’ top five performers in their Week 9 loss to the New England Patriots.

After back-to-back losses the Green Bay Packers (3-4-1) find themselves below .500 and in need of a victory.

The Packers fought hard and found themselves tied with the New England Patriots after three quarters. But for the second straight week, an unfortunate fumble did the Packers in.

Aaron Jones’ fumble on the first play of the fourth quarter was the turning point the Patriots needed with the score tied at 17-17.

The Packers were driving and looked to be in position to take the lead when the fumble occurred. After the fumble, the Patriots took control of the game and never looked back.

The Patriots found the spark they needed and scored 14 unanswered points to close the game while allowing the Packers to score none.

With all the hoopla that surrounded the matchup, the game itself actually failed to live up to the hype. Neither Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers’ play was spectacular. What could have saved the hype was a last-minute drive for the win, but the Patriots ensured that wouldn’t happen.

The Green Bay Packers now find themselves in a hole and a must-win game against the Miami Dolphins this weekend.

Here are my top five performers from the Patriots game.

1. Antonio Morrison

Antonio Morrison had a good game considering he was not a starter or thought to be a key contributor going into the game. Morrison finished the game with seven tackles and one sack.

Blake Martinez’s injury could have been a killer for the Packers. The team had just figured out how to handle Cordarrelle Patterson and was holding the Patriots offense in check.

Morrison timed a perfect blitz and got to Tom Brady for what would have been a key sack. A bogus penalty on the punt erased the impact of the play.

The Packers have been down before. The team was 4-6 two years ago when Aaron Rodgers made the “run the table” comment. Up next is a game with a good Miami Dolphins team and then a short week to face the Seattle Seahawks out west.

The team has a lot to figure out and not enough to get right in one week. But getting a few things going in the right direction for this week can be a stepping stone in the right direction.
