1. Aaron Jones is a star
This could’ve been written just about every week this season, but Aaron Jones is a star. He was finally given a bigger role, and the second-year running back delivered, turning a team-high 15 carries into 145 yards and two touchdowns. Jamaal Williams only had three carries in the game.
Despite Mike McCarthy finally realizing Jones needs to be the lead back in this offense, I’d still like to see him carry the ball more. Any time he’s on the field, the Packers offense looks more efficient and moves with ease. As soon as he comes out of the game, they begin to struggle.
Jones continues to make big plays for this offense, including a 67-yard run in the first quarter that set up his first touchdown.
The Packers found more balance on offense this week, with 28 passing attempts to 25 rushing attempts. But they had success on the ground (7.8 yards per run compared to 7.1 yards per pass) and should’ve continued to lean on Jones.
Jones will be key for the Packers on Thursday night against the Seahawks. Seattle’s run defense isn’t bad, but Ezekiel Elliott, Melvin Gordon and Todd Gurley have all had 100-yard performances against them this season. There’s no reason why Jones can’t do the same.
