This week, the Green Bay Packers play in the Seattle for the first time since the 2014 season.

It’s been four long years since that game.

Since then, the Green Bay Packers have played the Seattle Seahawks every year. They’ve won every single time.

But each of those games were played at Lambeau Field. On Thursday night the Packers return to Seattle for the first time since that game.

Since then, the Packers haven’t been the same team. Jordy Nelson‘s season-ending injury derailed the offense in 2015. Poor defense prevented them from making the Super Bowl despite running the table from 4-6 in 2016. Aaron Rodgers missed half of the 2017 season.

And this year? Green Bay has a lot of work to do at 4-4-1.

But the Seahawks, too, haven’t been the same since their heartbreaking Super Bowl loss two weeks after that game.

The Seahawks were one yard away from winning a second Super Bowl in a row.

A year later, a 10-6 record was good enough for second place in the NFC West and a wild-card berth. A Vikings missed field goal from 27 yards out helped the Seahawks advance to the divisional round, but there they were beaten comfortably by the Panthers.

Seattle went 10-5-1 in 2016, again reaching the divisional round, but again having no answer for a team from the NFC South, losing 36-20 to the Falcons.

Last year, like the Packers, Seattle didn’t even make the playoffs.

They haven’t had a better opportunity to win another Super Bowl since 2014. The same as the Packers.

On Thursday night, the Packers and Seahawks renew their rivalry at CenturyLink Field. Green Bay enters this game at 4-4-1. Seattle is 4-5. Both teams have elite quarterbacks, but both teams have underachieved since that game.

History suggests the Seahawks will win. The home team has won in the past seven meetings between these two teams. The last road victory was in 2008 when Green Bay won 27-17 in Seattle.

On Thursday night the Packers return to Seattle for the first time in four years. Both teams need a win.
