Following the Green Bay Packers’ Week 14 victory over the Atlanta Falcons, they have moved up nine spots in the latest NFL Spin Zone power rankings.

It’s been quite the week in Green Bay.

After an embarrassing loss at home to the Arizona Cardinals, one of the worst performances at Lambeau Field in a long, long time, Mike McCarthy was fired with Joe Philbin taking over for the rest of the season.

Seven days later the Packers pulled off a comfortable victory over the Atlanta Falcons and put together one of the most complete performances we’ve seen from this team all season.

It wasn’t perfect, but the offense found more of a rhythm, while the defense did a great job after giving up a touchdown on the game’s opening drive.

With the win, one that just about keeps Green Bay in playoff contention, the team has moved up to No. 16 in the NFL Spin Zone power rankings. Here’s what Dan Parzych had to say about the Packers:

"“Realistically, the Packers will need a ton of help over these next couple of weeks just to have a fighting chance at earning a playoff spot, but with Rodgers under center, this obviously is capable of happening.”"

It’s probably too little, too late for the Packers. Especially with a trip to Chicago awaiting this week. But it was nice to see Green Bay show some energy and look more like the team we expected to see when the season started.

The Packers will need a miracle to earn a wild-card berth, and maybe it’s for the best they don’t get in, find a new head coach sooner and land a top 15 draft pick. But if this team somehow finds a way into the playoffs, anything can happen.

To have any hope of extending the season beyond December, the Packers must win their final three games (at Chicago, at NY Jets, vs. Detroit) and hope for a few results to go their way.
