Green Bay Packers free agency 2019: Top 3 targets

Landon Collins, S
Cornerback was the focus in the secondary last offseason. It’s safety this year.
The Packers let Morgan Burnett walk in free agency last year with the hope Ha Ha Clinton-Dix would bounce back from a disappointing 2017 season. But that didn’t go to plan and the Packers traded Clinton-Dix to Washington in midseason.
If Landon Collins isn’t franchise tagged and becomes a free agent in March, the Packers should be very interested. Collins has only been in the league four years, but he’s already been selected to the Pro Bowl three times, was a first-team All-Pro in 2016 and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2015.
The Packers desperately need an upgrade at the safety position, and Collins can provide that.
If Collins hits free agency there will be a lot of interest around the league. Spotrac’s calculated market value for Collins’ average salary is $9.3 million. But for an excellent player who is just 25 years old and would help the Packers at a position of need, it’d be a move worth making for Brian Gutekunst.
By signing Collins, safety wouldn’t be a desperate need in the draft, which would allow the Packers to focus on other positions early on such as edge rusher.
