Aaron Rodgers won the “Moment of the Year” award at the NFL Honors on Saturday evening.

It wasn’t quite the MVP award Aaron Rodgers would’ve been hoping for when the season began, but it was announced on Saturday that he had won the “Moment of the Year” award.

There weren’t too many great “moments” for the Green Bay Packers in the 2018 season, but Rodgers did create one in the season opener against the Chicago Bears.

Packers fans couldn’t have imagined a worse start to the game, or a better end. Green Bay went into halftime down 17-0, at home, to its divisional rival. But worse, Aaron Rodgers had left the game with a knee injury.

The game was all but over. Going 0-1 suddenly didn’t feel important. All that mattered was Rodgers’ injury. How long would he miss? A game? Half the season? The entire season? A broken collarbone kept him out over half the 2017 season, and fans had every reason to be concerned.

But to the surprise of just about every Cheesehead watching at Lambeau Field and across the world, Rodgers would make his return in the third quarter. And not only that, he would throw three touchdown passes as the Packers made one of their all-time great comebacks to defeat the Bears, 24-23.

The Bears got the last laugh by finishing the season 12-4 and winning the NFC North title, but this was an incredible game fans of both teams will never forget.

Rodgers deservedly wins the “Moment of the Year” award, but next year he’ll be aiming for the league MVP, and a Super Bowl MVP to go along with it.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes won the AP Most Valuable Player award this year after throwing for 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Quite incredible.
