The Green Bay Packers’ top five needs to address ahead of free agency.

To get back to the playoffs and become contenders in the NFC again, the Green Bay Packers need to be active in free agency.

Cap room should’t be an issue. According to Over The Cap, the Packers will have approximately $36.55 million to begin the year. And it’s also possible they could free up room by releasing Nick Perry or Jason Spriggs.

There will of course be competition from teams around the league. The Indianapolis Colts, for example, will have $109 million in cap room, according to Over The Cap. It will be difficult to compete with teams with that much money, but that doesn’t mean the Packers can’t make a number of moves to help strengthen their roster.

General manager Brian Gutekunst was active in free agency last offseason, but his best addition came when the season began. After Davon House was placed on injured reserve, the Packers needed a cornerback and signed Bashaud Breeland. When healthy, Breeland was a great addition to the secondary.

Free agency begins on March 13. The Packers can address a few of their biggest needs in March before entering the 2019 NFL Draft with 10 selections, including two in the opening round.
