5. Stay healthy

This one is a little bit more out of the Packers’ control, and a lot of this comes down to luck. Both of last week’s Super Bowl teams went into the game healthy. Both the Patriots and Rams only had two players on the injury report each, and all four players didn’t carry an injury designation going into the game after practicing fully on Friday.

Of course, both teams lost players throughout the year, but they entered the game about as healthy as possible so late in the season. The Packers, on the other hand, had 15 players on their Week 17 injury report, and 15 more on injured reserve, including starters Aaron Jones, Kevin King, Kenny Clark and Mike Daniels. Aaron Rodgers also played through multiple injuries throughout the season.

You need a little bit of luck on your side to enter the playoffs healthy. It’s another reason why the NFC Championship Game loss to Seattle in 2015 was so frustrating. The Packers entered the game with just four players on the injury report, and they were all listed as “probable” to play.

To return to the Super Bowl in 2020, Green Bay needs some luck with injuries. And that brings us perfectly on to the next point.
