Three free agents the Green Bay Packers should re-sign this offseason.

Earlier this week, I wrote about three players the Green Bay Packers should let walk in free agency.

Today we look at three they should bring back.

Free agency begins in less than a month. General manager Brian Gutekunst should try to re-sign these players before they become free agents in March.

Bashaud Breeland

Bashaud Breeland was a free agent signing back in September, and it’s not often you can find an upgrade at a key position like cornerback when the season has already started.

Breeland can be a starter in Mike Pettine’s defense and play a key role alongside second-year Jaire Alexander and Kevin King.

Breeland was one of the top cornerbacks in free agency last offseason and could be again now that he’s fully healthy. Breeland made two interceptions (returning one for a touchdown) and had four pass defenses in 2018.

Re-signing Breeland should be the Packers’ top priority.

Muhammad Wilkerson

Muhammad Wilkerson was another free agency signing by Gutekunst in his first year as general manager. But Wilkerson didn’t get an opportunity to make an impact as he went down with a season-ending ankle injury in the Packers’ third game.

Green Bay’s defensive line lacked depth once injuries hit this past season, and Wilkerson could play an important role in Pettine’s defense in 2019.

The Packers should offer Wilkerson a similar one-year, “prove it” contract to the one he signed last offseason.

Geronimo Allison (restricted free agent)

Geronimo Allison made big play after big play before getting injured in 2018, including touchdowns of 64 and 39 yards. He was asked to step up and take on a bigger role in the Packers offense, and Allison delivered.

As Allison is a restricted free agent, his cap hit will be low in 2019. The original-round tender is $2.04 million, according to Over The Cap. The Packers would also have the option to match any offers made by other teams.

Considering how important Allison is to Green Bay’s offense, bringing him back in 2019 should be a priority.
