Noah Fant, TE, Iowa

Noah Fant’s impressive performance at the scouting combine likely means he won’t be there at No. 30, where I had the Packers taking him in my most recent two-round mock draft. To have a chance of drafting Fant, the Packers might need to be willing to use the No. 12 pick, or trade up later in the round.

I’d be more than happy for Green Bay to leave the first round with either of Iowa’s duo at tight end, Fant and T.J. Hockenson, even if that means using the No. 12 pick.

So, just how impressive was Fant at the combine? Let’s take a look at some of his numbers, according to NFL.com.

Fant ran the fastest 40-yard dash among tight ends at an impressive 4.5 seconds. As Zach Kruse of Packers Wire noted, that’s faster than Davante Adams’ 40-time back in 2014. Fant was also the top tight end in the vertical jump (39.5 inches), the broad jump (127 inches), the three-cone drill (6.81 seconds) and the 60-yard shuttle (11.49 seconds).

On the field, Fant’s receiving ability at Iowa would make him a perfect addition to the Packers offense.

The Packers might miss out on the talented tight end if they wait until No. 30. If I’m Brian Gutekunst, Fant is a serious consideration at No. 12.
