Wide receiver

Eli RogersSo much has been made about Antonio Brown‘s impending exit from the Steelers, but with JuJu Smith-Schuster poised to become the number one receiver, Rogers could be lost in the shuffle. Rogers, along with many other Pittsburgh receivers over the years, has fallen out of favor. The Steelers may elect to let second-year pro James Washington take over after he didn’t receive too much playing time in 2018.

Rogers has blazing speed in the open field when he can find just an inch of space. He doesn’t have the greatest hands in the world, but the Packers are desperate for anyone who can run a 40-yard dash in under six-and-a-half weeks. The Packers shouldn’t feel too compelled to address this position with either of their first-round picks, as the free agent class is too thick to pass up on.

Phillip DorsettDorsett completely reinvented himself when he arrived in New England. After looking like a bust in Indianapolis, he carved out a very useful role for himself under Bill Belichick. There is always a risk attached with trying to make a player thrive in your system the way he did under Belichick, but Aaron Rodgers is about the only man on the planet comparable to Tom Brady.

Dorsett can add a dimension to the Packers’ offense that they haven’t had since Mike Sherman. Mike McCarthy’s 16th-century offense was as short on creativity as it was on wins in 2018, and Dorsett could help first-year head coach Matt LaFleur add that wrinkle to an otherwise vanilla offense.

Davante Adams and Jimmy Graham are still unquestionably the team’s top receiving threats, but Dorsett could become a valuable addition to a completely bland offense.

Adam Humphries: Humphries could be the ideal slot replacement for Randall Cobb, who the Packers should absolutely be willing to let go. Cobb has not been one of the better receivers in the league for a very long time, and Humphries is only just beginning to hit the prime of his career. The Bucs again have lofty free agent goals at wide receiver, and Humphries could be priced out of town quickly by another team.

Humphries is also an ideal pairing to Davante Adams. Adams has become a deep threat guy, whereas Humphries could play the more underneath role that Jordy Nelson excelled at for so many years. Humphries isn’t the household name that many Packer fans want the team to acquire at the position, but he could still be effective for a reasonable price.
