The latest Green Bay Packers mock draft roundup a week into free agency.

The first wave of free agency is over, and after a busy start the Green Bay Packers can begin to focus on the 2019 NFL Draft.

Will the Packers still look to add more talent at edge rusher early, or will their focus turn to offense?

There are various opinions in this week’s mock draft roundup.

Randy Gurzi (NFL Spin Zone)

In his latest mock draft for NFL Spin Zone, Randy Gurzi has the Packers going defense at No. 12 by selecting Michigan defensive end Rashan Gary, and then adding speed to the wide receiver corps with Marquise Brown at No. 30. Even with the defensive signings made in free agency, adding talent to the front seven with the first pick makes sense.

Benjamin Solak (The Draft Network)

Any mock draft that has the Packers landing T.J. Hockenson in the first round has my approval. Benjamin Solak of The Draft Network has them doing just that, selecting the talented tight end at No. 12, and then adding Mississippi State safety Johnathan Abram at No. 30.

I like this mock draft a lot. Hockenson would be a difference-maker from Day 1 in Matt LaFleur’s offense both as a blocker and receiver. And a safety trio of Abram, Adrian Amos and Josh Jones is particularly exciting for the future. Of course, in the short term Tramon Williams could play at safety or cornerback.

Luke Easterling (Draft Wire)

Another mock draft with Hockenson going to Green Bay? Count me in. Even better is that in this mock draft by Luke Easterling of Draft Wire, the Packers trade down three spots in the first round and still get Hock at No. 15.

Keep a close eye on the QB-needy teams this year. With the Packers set to pick one spot ahead of the Miami Dolphins, it’s very possible Washington looks to jump ahead of Miami by moving up from No. 15 to No. 12, which is how this mock draft plays out. Washington selects quarterback Drew Lock and the Packers get their tight end. Win-win.

At No. 30, Easterling has Green Bay strengthening the defense by selecting Alabama linebacker Mack Wilson.

Bucky Brooks (NFL.com)

Here’s a very interesting mock draft by Bucky Brooks of NFL.com. He has the Packers going all offense in the opening round, first selecting Hockenson’s Iowa teammate, tight end Noah Fant at No. 12, then Mississippi wide receiver A.J. Brown.

Anyone who has read any of my work this offseason knows how much I love both Iowa tight ends. Adding either Fant or Hockenson would be exciting.

But doubling down on offense? It’s very possible. With such a focus on defense in free agency, it’s possible Brian Gutekunst will focus on finding offensive weapons to suit Matt LaFleur’s system. And with Randall Cobb still a free agent, Brown could be an ideal replacement in the slot.

Re-signing Geronimo Allison was important. Now add Fant and Brown to an offense already featuring Davante Adams and Aaron Jones? Giving Aaron Rodgers the strongest possible supporting cast is not a bad idea at all.
