Packers improve offense in three-round mock draft
Round 3 (75): Riley Ridley, WR, Georgia
There are mixed opinions about whether the Packers need another wide receiver. I’m a believer that they do, and I’d argue that outside of Davante Adams, there is a lot of uncertainty at the position.
Can Geronimo Allison build on last year’s success as the No. 2 receiver over an entire season? I think so, but it’s no guarantee. Can MVS or EQ step up? Again, they have the potential to do so, but it’s no guarantee.
In the third round, the Packers could add a talented receiver to their offense in Georgia’s Riley Ridley. Lombardi Ave’s Kwaku Larbi wrote last week about five draft prospects who could play a role similar to Jordy Nelson in Green Bay, and Ridley was one of them. Larbi wrote:
"“Riley’s poor production is a result of Georgia’s offensive scheme and the pieces they had around him. Riley is a well-rounded player with natural soft hands who, just like Jordy, has no problem adjusting to the ball.”"
Initially, Ridley would give the Packers more depth at the position, but he has the potential to become the No. 2 receiver on the depth chart in the next few years.
By adding Ridley and Hockenson in the early rounds of the draft, the Packers would have two talented, consistent pass catchers to help the offense get back in track in 2019.
Who do you hope the Green Bay Packers select in the opening three rounds?
