The latest FanSided mock draft has the Green Bay Packers going wide receiver and tight end in the first round with D.K. Metcalf and Noah Fant.

I have to think Aaron Rodgers and Matt LaFleur would both be very happy with the latest FanSided mock draft.

The mock draft, written by FanSided’s Brad Weiss, has the Green Bay Packers leaving the first round with two additions on offense: Ole Miss wide receiver D.K. Metcalf at No. 12 overall, and Iowa tight end Noah Fant at No. 30.

A Packers offense featuring both Metcalf and Fant would be a lot of fun to watch.

The draft is all about adding potential game-changers, especially early on. And in this mock, the Packers would be bringing in two players who could make a huge difference on offense.

Metcalf is arguably the best wide receiver in the class. Kyle Crabbs of The Draft Network wrote that “his blend of physicality and explosiveness have the ability to develop into a game-changing WR”.

Metcalf is incredibly athletic; the 6-foot-3, 228-pound receiver ran an impressive 4.33-second 40-yard dash, tied for third-best at the position. He also tied for first in bench press reps with 27, and tied for third in the vertical jump at 40.5 inches.

After adding one talented pass catcher early in the round, the Packers select another playmaker, Noah Fant, at No. 30. If Fant is still on the board when Green Bay hits the clock with the 30th pick, this should be an easy decision.

T.J. Hockenson probably gets the slight edge over his Iowa teammate for the best fit in the Packers offense, but make no mistake, Fant could be dominant in Green Bay.

Like Metcalf, Fant impressed at the combine, posting an incredible 4.50-second 40, ranked first among tight ends. Fant’s 39.5-inch vertical jump was also first at the position, and he also led the way in the broad jump, three-cone drill and 60-yard shuttle.

An area to improve is his blocking, but as a receiving tight end, Fant is the best in the entire class.

If the plan is to give Aaron Rodgers as many talented pass catchers as possible, this mock draft would be a great start.
