Green Bay Packers five most likely 2019 primetime games
What are the five most likely primetime games for the Green Bay Packers in 2019?
Making it back to the playoffs is the top priority for the Green Bay Packers in the 2019 season.
But if they bounce back and are competitive this year, they’ll be a popular choice for primetime games.
Which are the five most likely primetime games for the Packers in 2019?
5. At San Francisco 49ers
The narrative in this game is simple: two teams looking to rebound after falling well short of expectations in 2018.
For the San Francisco 49ers, a season-ending injury to Jimmy Garoppolo all but ended their playoff hopes, and their season fell apart as a result. For the Packers, struggling to put games away early in the year led to an inconsistent, disappointing season that cost Mike McCarthy his job.
Even without Garoppolo, the 49ers came close to upsetting the Packers at Lambeau Field last season, leading for most of the second half. They were up 30-23 with under two minutes to go, but a Davante Adams touchdown and Mason Crosby field goal gave the Packers a last-second 33-30 victory.
And there is, of course, the recent playoff history between these two teams. The 49ers eliminated the Packers in the 2012 divisional round when Colin Kaepernick rushed for 181 yards and two touchdown in a 45-31 49ers win. In the wild-card round a year later, Kaepernick led his team to victory again. His 11-yard run on third-and-eight put the 49ers in position to kick a game-winning field goal.
For the first time since then, both the Packers and 49ers have the potential to be playoff contenders. A primetime game could be the result.
