Packers 2019 mock draft: Both sides of the ball addressed in first round
Pick 21: Arizona Cardinals (via trade with Seattle Seahawks)
Erik McCoy, OL (Texas A&M)
Due to Seattle only having four picks in the 2019 draft, it is likely they trade back out of this spot to gain another pick or two. Arizona gives up their 33rd pick and their 65th pick to move up to grab Erik McCoy to protect their new quarterback, Kyler Murray.
Mason Cole struggled at center for the Cardinals last season, opening the door for McCoy to become a day one starter at center. They could choose to play McCoy at guard as well if need be. At Texas A&M, McCoy only allowed one sack in 1,528 snaps and his film against Quinnen Williams is impressive. He certainly looks the part as an NFL-ready offensive lineman.
Pick 22: Baltimore Ravens
Hakeem Butler, WR (Iowa St.)
It is no secret the Ravens need weapons at receiver very, very badly. They have the worst wide receiving corps in the NFL. While they are going to be a team focused on running the ball first and foremost, they still need options for Lamar Jackson to throw the ball to outside of his plethora of tight ends.
Hakeem Butler is a massive target (6-foot-5, 227 pounds), who could end up being the best receiver in this draft. His massive size helps him in contested situations, as well as after the catch, as he is a hard receiver to bring down. He will need some work on becoming more crisp in his route-running, but with NFL coaches working with him, he should be able to improve.
Pick 23: Houston Texans
Andre Dillard, OL (Washington St.)
After allowing a pitiful 62 sacks last season, the only thing the Texans should think about picking in the first round is an offensive lineman to protect their franchise quarterback, Deshaun Watson.
Luckily for them, one of the best pass-blocking linemen is available with the 23rd pick. Dillard is the exact pick the Texans need, a fierce pass-blocker who can protect Watson’s blind side.
Pick 24: Oakland Raiders
Greedy Williams, CB (LSU)
It’s a good thing the Raiders have three first-round picks this season, as they went on a rampage trading away their best players on the roster in 2018, leaving some glaring holes. One of those holes is at cornerback, where they are in need of significant help.
Greedy Williams is incredibly smooth in his movements, he is about as fluid in his hips and feet as they come. That along with 4.37 speed allows him to drape receivers all game long. He is rarely far away from his receiver in man coverage. Williams will need to put on a little muscle mass and learn to become more physical in the tackling game, but he isn’t being taken in the first round for his tackling, he is a first-round talent because of his dominant man coverage skills.
