Packers: All offense in latest FanSided 2019 mock draft
FanSided has the Green Bay Packers landing two of the best offensive players in the draft in the opening round.
With two weeks to go, FanSided’s latest mock draft has the Green Bay Packers leaving Day 1 with a pair of offensive weapons for Aaron Rodgers, and two picks that Matt LaFleur would have to love.
The mock draft, written by FanSided’s Brad Weiss, has the Packers selecting tight end T.J. Hockenson and wide receiver A.J. Brown with their two Day 1 picks.
It won’t be a surprise if when this draft is looked back on in a few years, Hockenson will be considered the top tight end and Brown the best receiver in the class. And they could both be wearing green and gold in the NFL.
Hockenson’s elite blocking ability makes him an ideal fit in LaFleur’s offense, but his pass-catching is what makes him a top tight end prospect. He could make a huge contribution right away and would also allow the Packers to move on from Jimmy Graham and Marcedes Lewis next offseason, moving forward with Hockenson, Robert Tonyan and either a free agency signing or late draft pick next year.
While Davante Adams expects to play more in the slot moving forward, this is also an area Brown would fit in Green Bay, although he could also line up out wide.
Brown led the way in receiving yards and touchdowns for Ole Miss last season, finishing with 1,320 yards and six touchdowns.
With Hockenson and Brown added to the Packers offense, they’d have a deep group of pass catchers, while also finally finding their long-term answer at tight end.
Even after going all offense in the opening round, the Packers could find help at safety and edge rusher on the second day.
What are your thoughts on Hockenson and Brown in the first round?
