The Green Bay Packers will play five important primetime games in 2019.

Despite entering 2019 following consecutive losing and playoff-less seasons, the Green Bay Packers remain a popular choice for primetime games. And they are set to play in five games under the national spotlight this season.

Kicking off the campaign on the road against the Chicago Bears will help set the tone for the season. Not often over the past decade have the Packers been underdogs in this rivalry, but that will be the case as Matt LaFleur makes his head coaching debut.

Green Bay’s next primetime showdown comes just three weeks later when they host the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football. Consider this an advantage to Green Bay, as playing on the road on a short week is a tall order.

In Week 6, the Packers will host the division-rival Lions on Monday Night Football, another divisional showdown in primetime.

The most hyped game on the Packers’ 2019 calendar? Fast forward to Week 8 when Green Bay’s two-time MVP Aaron Rodgers meets the rising star and reigning league-MVP Patrick Mahomes at Arrowhead Stadium. That should be a fun game.

Green Bay’s final primetime game will be in Week 16, when they again play on Monday Night Football, and again in a divisional contest on the road against the Minnesota Vikings.

Of course, the three NFC North matchups stand out as the most important, but winning at home on a short week against Philadelphia will also be key, and the Packers will have a perfect opportunity to make a statement by defeating Kansas City on the road in Week 8.

It’s interesting that Green Bay remains one of the top choices for primetime games this season. I’m sure Aaron Rodgers is the No. 1 reason why, but it also shows confidence that the Packers will bounce back in 2019.
