T.J. Hockenson and Marquise Brown are the Green Bay Packers’ first-round picks in FanSided’s most recent mock draft.

Looking to step up on offense in 2019, one possibility is that the Green Bay Packers will use their two opening-round draft selections to improve this side of the ball.

That’s how Brad Weiss of FanSided sees it playing out in his latest mock draft, with the Packers selecting TE T.J. Hockenson out of Iowa and WR Marquise Brown out of Oklahoma on Day 1.

In Hockenson, the Packers would be getting the top tight end in the class, one of the draft’s best players at the position in many years and someone who could step right into the starting lineup and be used for many roles. An excellent blocker and a great receiver, selecting Hockenson at No. 12 isn’t too high.

Brown would add speed at wide receiver and he could quickly become one of the best deep threats in all of football, something the Packers offense currently lacks.

With the addition of these two playmakers, there’s little doubt this offense would be among the league’s best under new head coach Matt LaFleur. They already have the NFL’s No. 1 passer in Aaron Rodgers, an excellent running back in Aaron Jones, an elite wide receiver in Davante Adams and an All-Pro left tackle in David Bakhtiari.

Add Hockenson and Brown to the offense, as well as the new scheme under LaFleur, and the Packers will be ready to make the next step offensively.

In less than a week, we’ll find out how the draft plays out and see how Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst plans to upgrade the roster. If his focus is on offense, then outside of selecting an offensive lineman with one of the two picks, this might be the best-case scenario.
