Packers: Important dates for rest of 2019 offseason
Important offseason dates for the Green Bay Packers over the summer.
With most of the player acquisitions now done, both via free agency and the draft, the next phase of the offseason is all about preparation for the new season.
That gets underway later this month when the Green Bay Packers begin their organized team activities, or OTAs. Following OTAs, a three-day minicamp will be held before the players get their final break before the start of the season.
Here’s a look at some important offseason dates over the next couple of months, according to the Packers’ official website:
OTAs
We’ll get our first glimpse at the 2019 Green Bay Packers when OTAs get underway in under two weeks. It’s a long process, and the fun doesn’t truly begin until training camp in the summer, but it will be the next step for Matt LaFleur as he brings his scheme and style to Green Bay.
OTAs will be held on these dates: May 20-21, May 23, May 28-29, May 31, June 3-6.
Mandatory minicamp
Mandatory minicamp to be held on these dates: June 11-13.
Training camp
The Packers are yet to announce the full schedule for training camp, but they have announced that it will begin on Thursday, July 25.
And once training camp gets underway, preseason will follow shortly after. Here’s a look at Green Bay’s preseason schedule:
Week 1: vs. Houston Texans
Kickoff: Thursday, August 8 at 7 p.m. CT
Location: Lambeau Field
Week 2: at Baltimore Ravens
Kickoff: Thursday, August 15 at 6:30 p.m. CT
Location: M&T Stadium
Week 3: Oakland Raiders
Time and location yet to be announced.
Week 4: vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Kickoff: Thursday, August 29 at 7 p.m. CT
Location: Lambeau Field
Most of the work by general manager Brian Gutekunst is now done. He has added talent throughout the offseason, and while that will continue, the biggest signings of the offseason have been made. The next few months will give LaFleur the opportunity to bring his style to the team.
It’s all set to be an interesting few months for the Green Bay Packers.
