The Denver Broncos ended the Green Bay Packers’ perfect start to the 2015 season. These two teams will play again at Lambeau Field in Week 3.

The Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos meet early in the 2019 season. To win, Green Bay can’t afford a slow start to the season.

Let’s look at the offseason moves the Broncos have made, and what we can expect from the Packers’ AFC opponents.

Last season

The Broncos finished third in the AFC West last season with a disappointing 6-10 record. Despite starting the year 2-0, Denver went just 4-10 the rest of the way. It’s tough playing in the same division as the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers — Denver went 1-3 against Kansas City and Los Angeles.

When is the game?

The Packers will host the Broncos in Week 3. The game takes place on Sunday, Sept. 22.

Offseason additions

The top focus for the Broncos this offseason has been the offense. They traded for quarterback Joe Flacco and traded away Case Keenum to the Washington Redskins. Denver also used a second-round pick to select quarterback Drew Lock.

They also addressed the offensive line by signing tackle Ja’Wuan James and drafting tackle Dalton Risner.

In the first round, the Broncos selected tight end Noah Fant, a player many fans had hoped would end up in Green Bay. This season, Fant will be playing at Lambeau Field, just not for the team many had hoped.

Player to watch

Phillip LindsayDenver ranked No. 12 in rushing offense last season. Whether it’s Flacco or Lock at quarterback, the Broncos will need to be able to run the ball.

Lindsay put together an impressive rookie season, rushing for 1,037 yards and nine touchdowns. Despite being signed as an undrafted free agent last spring, he led the team in rushing, and finished the season with more carries and rushing yards than Royce Freeman, who was a third-round pick last year.

The Packers will need to stop the Broncos run game. If Lindsay has a big game at Lambeau Field, Denver will have a great opportunity to win.
