Not only the Green Bay Packers’ number one wide receiver but also one of the best pass catchers in all of football, Davante Adams is key to this team’s success.

With an incredible 35 touchdown catches in the past three seasons, Davante Adams will be looking to put up 1,000 yards for the second consecutive year, and double-digit touchdowns for the fourth season in a row.

And in Matt LaFleur’s offense, he could do just that.

2018 stats

Adams finished 2018 with 111 receptions for 1,386 yards and 13 touchdowns, setting career highs in all three categories.

2018 review

Despite posting by far the best numbers of his career, it wasn’t much of a surprise for Packers fans. Adams had been playing at an elite level for a couple of years, but it was in 2018 he got a great opportunity to prove that he’s one of the best wide receivers in the game.

Back in 2016, Adams finished with 997 yards and 12 touchdowns, but he was second on the depth chart behind Jordy Nelson. In 2017, it was clear he had become the top receiver on the team, but with Aaron Rodgers out for over half the season, Adams didn’t get the same opportunities. He still finished with an impressive 885 yards and 10 touchdowns in 14 games.

So with Rodgers playing all 16 games in 2018, it felt inevitable Adams would have his best season yet.

Odds of making roster: 100 percent

Adams is easily one of the three most important players on offense along with Rodgers and left tackle David Bakhtiari.

What to expect in 2019?

If both Adams and Rodgers are healthy for all 16 games, there’s no reason why Adams can’t once again set career-bests in receiving yards and even touchdowns.

The big question entering the year will be whether the team buys into Matt LaFleur’s offense, but the early signs are encouraging. Adams described it is “an electrifying offense” when speaking to Jim Rome earlier this week.

While the Packers will be expecting their young wide receivers to step up this year, it’ll again be Adams leading the way on offense. With five years of experience playing with Rodgers, this connection will once again be the most important for the Packers.

In an exciting new offense, the expectation for Adams should be to once again put together an excellent season.
