Which three rookies have the best chance of starting for the Green Bay Packers in 2019?

A huge season awaits for the Green Bay Packers, who are aiming to get back into the postseason for the first time since the 2016 season.

To reach the postseason, they’ll need key contributions from their rookie class.

Here’s a look at three rookies who could start in Week 1:

After signing Adrian Amos in free agency, the big question was whether they’d turn back to the safety position early on in the 2019 NFL Draft, and that’s exactly what general manager Brian Gutekunst did by selecting Darnell Savage Jr. in the first round.

With the luxury of owning two first-round picks, Gutekunst addressed edge rusher first with Rashan Gary, and then was willing to trade up nine positions to select Savage later on the draft’s opening day.

Of all of the draft picks, Savage could make the biggest impact in year one, and he has a great chance to start in Mike Pettine’s defense in Week 1 against the Bears.

Not only could he have the opportunity to start, but Matt Bowen of ESPN predicts he’ll win Defensive Rookie of the Year:

"“Savage can close on the ball with immediate speed, and his playmaking versatility in the secondary gives defensive coordinator Mike Pettine some real options in the game plan.”"
