3. Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Wide Receiver

Of all of the young wide receivers on the roster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling could make the biggest impact in 2019. MVS finished second in receiving among wide receivers for the Packers last year with 38 receptions for 581 yards and two touchdowns.

And as Rob Demovsky of ESPN reported last month, Valdes-Scantling was a starter in LaFleur’s offense at the beginning of minicamp. That’s interesting as it suggests MVS could be the number two wide receiver ahead of Geronimo Allison, who may take on a role in the slot.

MVS made some great plays as a rookie and has the potential to very good. And if he can make a second-year jump like many are predicting, the Packers will have two excellent starting wide receivers with very good depth.

Wide receiver might be the most interesting position of any at training camp. With the exception of Davante Adams as the number one receiver, nothing is guaranteed.

But MVS looks to be in a great position to secure a starting job. Can he build on a good offseason, or will Allison or Equanimeous St. Brown step up?

Another thing to watch is where MVS lines up, and whether LaFleur uses him primarily outside or in the slot.
