2. Jamaal Williams

In his first two seasons, Jamaal Williams has been a reliable running back for the Green Bay Packers. Yet to miss a game, Williams has stepped into the number one role when needed, and he’s played well.

Consistency has been an issue, but at his best, Williams is tough to stop. Take the Packers’ win against the New York Jets in Week 16 of last season as an example. In that game, Williams had 156 all-purpose yards and one rushing touchdown. His ability to do everything well (rushing, receiving and blocking) makes him an important part of the Packers’ backfield.

And in an offense with more opportunities for the running backs, Williams could be set for a big year. He’s a more-than-capable receiver, which is evident with 472 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns to his name since he entered the league in 2017. With LaFleur wanting his RBs to be more involved in the passing game, he can count on Williams to deliver.

What’s going to be most interesting to see is whether Williams and Jones are given an even split of the carries, or whether Jones is the featured back with Williams playing a complementary role. Either way, Williams can step up as the number one back just as he’s done well the past two years when Jones has been injured.
