Aaron Jones could be one of the top running backs in fantasy football this season.

NFL Fantasy Football has been counting down the best 50 players in fantasy for the new season, and the Green Bay Packers‘ number one running back is in the top 40.

Aaron Jones, set to lead the Packers’ backfield in Matt LaFleur’s new offense, led the league in yards per carry last season.

He now comes in at No. 36 in the Fantasy Top 50 rankings for 2019.

He comes in ahead of a number of talented running backs from around the league, including Lions second-year running back Kerryon Johnson, Raiders rookie Josh Jacobs, the Patriots’ duo of James White and Sony Michel, and the Ravens’ new signing Mark Ingram.

This highlights the confidence among fantasy analysts that Jones is set for a breakout season as the featured back in what should be a good offense. If the days of the Packers’ running back by committee are gone and LaFleur wants Jones to lead the way, he could be a top-15 RB for fantasy this year.

To back that up, in a recent 10-team mock draft by fantasy experts for NFL.com, Jones was selected in the fourth round, the 37th overall selection and the 18th running back off the board.

Despite only starting eight games last season, Jones still finished with solid numbers with 728 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.

An area that could strengthen his fantasy numbers — particularly in PPR scoring — will be an increased role in the passing game, a feature of LaFleur’s offense. Jones had 26 receptions last season, but he could have significantly more in 2019.

Jones can be an X-Factor in Green Bay’s offense and a superstar running back in fantasy football. He could be an excellent pick around the fourth round; a player who can offer RB2 production but with the potential to be an RB1 by the end of the season.
