Which rookies will start in Week 1?

The Packers will be hoping for key contributions from many of their rookies this season, but how many first-year players will start in the regular season opener against the Chicago Bears?

Darnell Savage Jr. is the most likely rookie to earn a starting job at training camp. The first-round pick has already been part of the starting defense at last month’s minicamp, as ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported. And, according to Ryan Wood of PackersNews.com, Savage has made a good first impression with his teammates, with Davante Adams saying the Packers “got a steal” by selecting Savage with the 21st overall pick in April’s draft.

Will Savage be the only rookie to start for the Packers when the season gets underway?

Green Bay’s other first-round pick, Rashan Gary, will be a player to watch at training camp. Gary was selected nine picks higher in the draft than Savage, but he might start as a backup at outside linebacker behind free agent signings Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith. But if Gary impresses at camp, there’s no reason why he can’t start right away, whether at linebacker or along the defensive line.

Another player to watch at training camp who could potentially start early on is defensive tackle Kingsley Keke.
