Who will start at guard?

This follows on perfectly from the last question, as second-round pick Elgton Jenkins could answer both questions. Jenkins will be in contention to start right away at one of the two guard positions.

General manager Brian Gutekunst identified the offensive line as an area to upgrade this offseason, and he did so in both free agency and the draft. The Packers signed former Denver Broncos offensive lineman Billy Turner in March, then selected Jenkins in the second round of the draft.

As ESPN’s Rob Demovsky noted last month, the Packers began minicamp with Turner starting with Lane Taylor at guard. Taylor didn’t have his best season in 2018, but he’s been a solid starter for three years and will have an opportunity to get back on track and keep his starting job at left guard.

Taylor and Turner are perhaps the favorites to start at guard for the Packers, but there will be competition from Jenkins and Cole Madison. Justin McCray and Lucas Patrick both have starting experience at guard and will also compete.
