No. 2 wide receiver

Participants: Geronimo Allison, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Equanimeous St. Brown, Trevor Davis, J’Mon Moore, Jake Kumerow

While Trevor Davis, J’Mon Moore and Jake Kumerow might be considered long shots to win the number two WR job at training camp, they should still be included.

But ultimately, this training camp battle will likely come down to Geronimo Allison, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Equanimeous St. Brown.

Once Randall Cobb wasn’t re-signed and joined the Dallas Cowboys, Allison seemed the obvious choice to step up. He’s the most experienced receiver among this group, has Aaron Rodgers’ trust and was also playing excellent football last season before getting hurt. He recorded 303 yards and two touchdowns in five games, including a sensational 39-yard touchdown catch which set up the Packers’ incredible comeback victory in Week 1.

But MVS has potentially overtaken Allison on the depth chart already this offseason, and appears to be the frontrunner to start alongside Davante Adams. Valdes-Scantling was a starter with Adams in the Packers’ first minicamp practice last month, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

Adams said the new offense is “catered” to MVS. Chris Roling of Bleacher Report has predicted a breakout season for Valdes-Scantling.

Valdes-Scantling — who finished second among wide receivers in receiving for the Packers last season — is my choice to win a starting job in Matt LaFleur’s offense.

Prediction: Valdes-Scantling wins the job
