The Green Bay Packers don’t have much cap room remaining, which means their recent activity in free agency needs to pay off.

The Packers have been one of the best teams at looking after their salary cap in recent years. That was much easier with Ted Thompson as general manager as he rarely made a big splash in free agency, unless it was to re-sign a player already on the roster.

But new general manager Brian Gutekunst has been willing to roll the dice and make a couple of riskier moves in free agency, as the potential reward could be another championship while Aaron Rodgers is in his prime. By not doing so, the Packers could be a few players away and fall short, as they so often have.

But by being more active in free agency, the team has to be willing to offer big contracts, and that can be a risky approach. It also makes it harder to make future signings and re-sign players whose contracts are nearing an end.

If a player has a big cap hit, they need to play at a high level. With that in mind, let’s take a look at three players the Packers have signed to big contracts, which could be risky moves. Here are three contracts that could turn out to be bad ones for the Packers in the next couple of seasons.
