Green Bay Packers: The 2019 offseason ends here
Training camp is here at long last.
It sure feels like forever since the Green Bay Packers have stepped onto a football field for a meaningful game. While we’re still just over six weeks away from that happening again in an interesting matchup against the defending NFC North champions, the offseason comes to an end this week.
Because this week, the Packers will be back on the field, and it’s important. This Thursday, they kick off their first training camp led by rookie head coach Matt LaFleur. And if this team is to reach its goal, Thursday kicks off the long road to the Super Bowl.
Every practice counts. It’s an opportunity for the established starters on offense to get comfortable in LaFleur’s system, making the transition from the familiarity of Mike McCarthy’s scheme.
For the defense, it’s an opportunity to build on last year’s work with the help of new starters at key positions.
It’s also the time for LaFleur to put his stamp on the team, set goals and an identity for the 2019 Packers.
Of course, the Packers will also have one eye on September 5, when they travel to Soldier Field with one goal in mind — to upset the NFC North champs and show the world that the Green Bay Packers are back.
Over the next few weeks, which also includes preseason next month, players will be competing to make the roster or win starting jobs.
From the backup quarterback job, to starting positions along the offensive line, there will be many interesting positional battles to watch all summer long. As fans, we’ll also be hoping there are no injuries.
Training camp is finally here. The 2019 Green Bay Packers are finally here. And the regular season is just around the corner.
And most importantly, the long offseason reaches its conclusion.
Will you be attending training camp this year?
