Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur had high praise for wide receiver Jake Kumerow.

Just like he did a year ago, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jake Kumerow appears to be making the most of his opportunities at training camp.

In a crowded wide receiver room, it won’t be easy for Kumerow to make the 53-man roster. But by playing consistently well, the Packers won’t have a whole lot of choice.

Kumerow has become a fan favorite in Green Bay, and it looks like Packers head coach Matt LaFleur is also a fan. Following Sunday’s practice, LaFleur had high praise for Kumerow, according to Zach Kruse of Packers Wire:

If Kumerow can keep it up, it’d be hard to imagine him not making the 53-man roster. Being in the right place at the right time and continuing to make plays could make him a go-to target for Aaron Rodgers at key moments.

There’s still a long way to go, but reports suggest Kumerow has been playing well at training camp so far.

Andy Herman of Cheesehead TV attended Sunday’s practice and listed the top standout performers. Unsurprisingly, Kumerow was one of them. Also on the list was Trevor Davis, who is another receiver competing for a spot on the initial 53-man roster in September.

Kumerow is also making some impressive plays, as ESPN’s Rob Demovsky noted:

The wide receiver battle continues to be one of the most interesting at camp. Competition is good, and it looks like, so far, it’s bringing the best out of everyone.

It’s good to hear that Kumerow and Davis have both performed well. Although if this continues, general manager Brian Gutekunst might have a headache trying to decide which receivers should make the roster and who misses out.
