Mason Crosby, JK Scott, Hunter Bradley

Mason Crosby’s training camp hasn’t started the way he’d have hoped. Crosby is yet to practice due to a calf injury, and he’s instead had to watch his competition, Sam Ficken, take all of the kicking work.

Despite that, I’m still confident Crosby will secure the job once he’s back. Crosby is the most experienced of the two kickers, by far, and especially in tough conditions late in the season. But the pressure is certainly on. And the longer Crosby misses time due to injury, the more of a spotlight will be placed on this competition.

But for now, Crosby is my choice for the 53-man roster. As ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported, Ficken missed two field goals during Thursday’s practice.

At punter and long snapper, it’s the same from 2018, with second-year players JK Scott and Hunter Bradley continuing in their roles.

Other questions on special teams include who will return kickoffs and punts. Both wide receiver Trevor Davis and running back Corey Grant could be options.
