5. Elgton Jenkins

Elgton Jenkins was called for holding at two different positions in the game versus the Ravens. The first one at guard, with the second one at center. That feat shouldn’t discourage the second-round pick.

In fact, if anything, he should feel encouraged. It should be noted Jenkins took the place of Lane Taylor on the second series of the game. With the rest of the starting line still in place, Jenkins came in and got a series in between David Bakhtiari and Corey Linsley.

I thought coming into this game that could happen, and when it did I thought it gave us insight into what the coaches are thinking. Coach LaFleur said earlier in the week Taylor was fighting for his job, now I can’t help but think he’s fighting for his roster spot.

I don’t think the Packers would keep Taylor on the roster as a backup at his salary. Not with Lucas Patrick and Justin McCray playing well as cheaper options.

The way preseason games are, it was probably predetermined Jenkins would enter when he did. Even before Rodgers was held out of the game. Should we see the same thing next week, I think the writing may be on the wall for Taylor.
