The latest NFL Spin Zone 2020 mock draft has the Green Bay Packers selecting Alabama linebacker Dylan Moses in the first round.

The Green Bay Packers enter 2019 with high expectations on defense. Part of the reason is the amount of early draft picks the team has used on defense.

Since 2012, all eight of the Packers’ first-round picks have been used to select a defensive player. They didn’t pick in the first round in 2017, but used both second-round picks on defense to select cornerback Kevin King and safety Josh Jones.

In an early 2020 mock draft by Ryan Roberts of NFL Spin Zone, the trend continues with the Packers selecting Alabama linebacker Dylan Moses in the first round.

And it would make a lot of sense. If there’s one area on defense the Packers lack depth, it’s at linebacker.

Blake Martinez is a free agent following the 2019 season, but the Packers should look to re-sign him. But even if they do, adding a linebacker in the first round would be a good decision.

Currently, the number two at inside linebacker is Oren Burks. He’s currently out with an injury, which could mean the team will start with either undrafted rookie Curtis Bolton or seventh-round pick Ty Summers next to Martinez.

With so much young talent on defense, it’s possible Moses could be the missing piece the team needs at linebacker. In two seasons at Alabama, Moses has 116 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception.

A starting duo of Martinez and Moses, with Burks as the main backup, could put the Packers in a strong position at linebacker.

The 2020 NFL Draft is still a while off, but these mock drafts give us some early insight into which players could come off the board early on next April.

The question is how high will the Packers be making their first pick? Let’s hope they don’t get to make their first-round selection until the 32nd overall pick.
