Green Bay Packers wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling is being drafted too low in fantasy football.

If you’re a Green Bay Packers fan and have been following the team closely throughout the summer, you’ll be aware of the rise of Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

MVS has set himself apart from the other second-year wide receivers on the roster, and will be a starter in Matt LaFleur’s offense alongside Davante Adams, with Geronimo Allison shifting more to the slot.

But fantasy players not following the Packers might not be aware, making Valdes-Scantling a potentially great late-round option. And his average draft position backs that up. According to Fantasy Football Calculator, MVS is being selected as low as the 10th round in PPR drafts. He’s the 42nd wide receiver to be selected.

Fantasy Football Calculator’s graph shows that his average draft position has actually dropped in the month of August by about a round.

This is surprising.

MVS is the number two receiver in an Aaron Rodgers-led offense. An offense that has sky-high potential with LaFleur now implementing his scheme. A scheme that teammate Davante Adams said is “catered” to a player like Valdes-Scantling.

His speed will make him a threat on screen passes, but also deep down the field.

The Packers offense needs more than one wide receiver to contribute. Adams is a superstar and Rodgers’ top target, but he’ll also be the main focus of opposing defenses, so the Packers will need to be able to rely on their other pass catchers.

Of all of the Packers’ WRs last season, Valdes-Scantling finished second in receiving with 38 receptions for 581 yards and two touchdowns. If he can make a second-year jump in an exciting, new offense, he could finish close to 1,000 yards receiving in 2019.

MVS has earned a starting job in this offense and should be set for more targets and a bigger role this season. He has an elite quarterback, plays opposite a star wide receiver and the Packers also have a strong offensive line. In LaFleur’s system, that should lead to success for MVS.

But he’s still being drafted too low in fantasy football.
