Tight End (4)

Jimmy Graham, Marcedes Lewis, Robert Tonyan, Jace Sternberger

There has been a lot of speculation that Marcedes Lewis could be a surprise cut, but I just don’t know if I can see it happening. It may be an option to cut him, place St. Brown on IR and then bring him back, but I don’t think they can just cut Lewis.

While Graham may have made improvements in his blocking, he’s still nowhere near the blocker Lewis is. This offense needs a tight end who can block, especially if Bryan Bulaga or David Bakhtiari goes down. He can be moved to that side and help chip.

After this season, I don’t see Graham or Lewis being here, so Tonyan and Sternberger look like they will be the future at this position. This will be their last year to learn and develop before likely being thrown into big roles in the future.

Offensive line (10)

David Bakhtiari, Lane Taylor, Corey Linsley, Billy Turner, Bryan Bulaga, Elgton Jenkins, Alex Light, Justin McCray, Lucas Patrick, Cole Madison

With the emergence of Elgton Jenkins, there were some rumors that the Packers were shopping Lane Taylor, but before the final preseason game, LaFleur said Taylor would be the starting left guard in Week 1.

If Bak were to go down, it would likely be Alex Light taking over at left tackle, but if Bulaga were to miss some time, Turner can naturally slide over and Jenkins can slide in at right guard. Justin McCray is a pretty versatile lineman who has played all over the line and Lucas Patrick has shown he can be a serviceable lineman as well. He has also shown he is more than willing to protect his teammates after some cheap shots, he is kind of the enforcer of this team.

I think if the Packers need to make room for a player at another position, I think Cole Madison is a candidate to be cut and potentially join the practice squad. Missing all of last year may have put him behind a bit, I think a year on the practice squad will give him a good shot at making the team next year.
