GM Brian Gutekunst has shown he is more willing than his predecessor to fill holes with veteran players. He spent big on defense this past offseason and can spend a little more now to help fill some gaps.

The Packers are moving on from DeShone Kizer as their backup quarterback and are sticking with Tim Boyle. But could they really feel that comfortable going with Boyle should Aaron Rodgers go down? Gutekunst could go with Brian Hoyer. Hoyer was released by the Patriots and has experience in the same system Matt LaFleur has in place. Hoyer started for the Browns when Kyle Shanahan was offensive coordinator.

Hoyer could give the Packers their most experienced backup since Seneca Wallace. Should the worst happen and Rodgers have to miss a few games, Hoyer is good enough to keep the team afloat till Rodgers returns.

Brandon Marshall would also be a nice veteran fill in for the defense. Oren Burks is hurt, Curtis Bolton the same. Marshall still has enough speed to be able to cover the middle of the field with enough experience to handle anything that comes his way. The team would not have to make a large investment in Marshall. He could be just a one-year rental and a veteran presence when Burks returns.
