What are the top three matchups in the regular-season opener?

The NFL’s 100th season couldn’t kick off with a more interesting matchup than a battle between the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. One team with a lot of success over the past decade but looking to bounce back after two playoff-less seasons. The home team enters the year as the defending NFC North champions and looking to take the next step this year.

A matchup between a future Hall-of-Famer and two-time MVP at quarterback, the NFL’s number one left tackle and an elite wide receiver, up against a dominant defense featuring three 2018 first-team All-Pros.

Two teams with far greater ambitions than simply making the playoffs, but with hopes of winning the Lombardi Trophy. Two teams with a combined 22 NFL championships, ranked first and second for most all-time.

In 198 games between these two teams, the Packers have won 97. The Bears 95. Six were tied. The oldest rivalry in the NFL continues on Thursday night at Soldier Field, opening the regular season. And if it’s anything like the Week 1 meeting at Lambeau Field last year, we’re in for a classic.

Just days away from Matt LaFleur’s Packers meeting Matt Nagy’s Bears, let’s take a look at three key matchups in this contest.
