8. Green Bay Packers

The Packers’ playoff hopes will rest on how quickly the offense can adjust to a new scheme. The defense will be improved with the additions of Za’Darius and Preston Smith, Adrian Amos, Rashan Gary and Darnell Savage in the offseason. If the Packers have a top-10 offense in 2019, they will be a playoff team.

7. Atlanta Falcons

Injuries derailed the Falcons’ 2018 season early on, but they get Deion Jones and Keanu Neal back fully healthy this year. NFL’s Next Gen Stats showed the dramatic difference in completion percentage allowed, yards per attempt and touchdown percentage when Jones and Neal are both on the field compared to when either one or both of them are off the field. Getting both back healthy is huge for the Falcons defense.

6. Minnesota Vikings

A lot of pressure is on Mike Zimmer this season, but his team has the talent to make it back to the playoffs. If Dalvin Cook stays healthy, the Vikings could have one of the best rushing offenses in the NFL. Their defense ranked fourth in the NFL last season and should once again be among the best in the league.

5. Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys are another team with a strong defense. They finished sixth in scoring defense last year and also have the potential to have a top-10 offense in 2019. The Cowboys could be a tough team to beat in January.
