Three takeaways from the Green Bay Packers’ victory over the Chicago Bears in the 2019 season opener.

Just as they did a year ago, the Green Bay Packers begin their season with a victory over the Chicago Bears. But this time they did so on the road, in their first game led by new head coach Matt LaFleur. The Bears enter the season as defending NFC North champions, so to win on opening night is a huge statement by LaFleur’s team.

It was a low-scoring game dominated by the defenses. The two teams went a combined 5-of-27 on third down and combined for just 13 points in the game. Only one touchdown was scored, an eight-yard catch by Jimmy Graham in the second quarter.

But the Packers won’t care one bit how they got the victory. They leave Soldier Field with the all-important win, and with five home games coming up in the next six weeks, they now have the chance to get off to a flier and put themselves right in the mix for playoff contention in the NFC.

Before looking ahead to a Week 2 showdown against the Minnesota Vikings in the home opener, let’s review Thursday’s night victory.

What did we learn from the game? Here are three takeaways from the Packers’ win over the Bears.
