At the end of Week 2, either the Green Bay Packers or Minnesota Vikings will sit at the top of the NFC North as the only team in the division with a perfect record.

Following the Packers‘ 10-3 victory at Soldier Field on Thursday night, the Vikings convincingly defeated the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday afternoon.

Dalvin Cook was the star of the show, rushing 21 times for 111 yards and two touchdowns. Alexander Mattison also had nine carries for 49 yards. Kirk Cousins only had the throw the football 10 times, completing eight passes for 98 yards and a touchdown.

Minnesota’s defense also made two interceptions, forced a fumble and sacked Matt Ryan four times.

It was an impressive performance by the Vikings, and we should be set for an interesting game when they visit Lambeau Field next Sunday.

The Detroit Lions also looked set for a winning start to the season when they took a 17-0 lead on the road against the Arizona Cardinals. They led by 18 points with the score at 24-6 in the third quarter. But the Cardinals — led by rookie quarterback Kyler Murray — fought back to tie the game at 24-24 and force overtime.

Both teams exchanged field goals before time expired and they had to settle for a tie. Considering the dominant position the Lions put themselves in early, it has to feel like a defeat.

What this means is Green Bay and Minnesota will compete for an early lead in the NFC North. It’s still early, but for the Packers, they have an opportunity to go 2-0 with both victories coming against division rivals.

And with the Bears on the road against the Denver Broncos, and the Lions hosting the Los Angeles Chargers, it’s entirely possible Chicago could start 0-2 and Detroit 0-1-1.

It’s only Week 2, but Sunday’s game against Minnesota is a big one. Let’s just hope it doesn’t end up in a tie as it did this time last year. After defeating the Bears in the season opener, the Packers and Vikings had to settle for a 29-29 tie in Week 2 at Lambeau. Hopefully, this time Green Bay gets the win.
