3. Packers defense makes two interceptions

It’s difficult to make an interception when the opposing quarterback only throws 10 passes in a game. The Packers’ number one job defensively will be to slow down Minnesota’s ground game and force Kirk Cousins to throw well and throw often. And that’s where Green Bay’s revamped pass rush and impressive young secondary will make a difference.

If the Packers can generate pressure and cover receivers as well as they did against the Bears, Cousins will be forced to get the ball out quickly. That could lead to mistakes. Cousins has been prone to throwing interceptions throughout his career — he’s had double-digit INTs in each of the past four seasons.

Cousins’ yards per attempt dropped to a career-low 7.1 yards last season, which suggests he was throwing shorter, more conservative passes. But if the Packers can get ahead in the game and stop the Vikings’ run game, Cousins will be forced to throw deeper and take more risks.

In another dominant defensive performance, I predict the Packers will come away with two game-changing interceptions to set up a victory. Jaire Alexander will make one of them, and the other will be made by first-round pick Darnell Savage Jr.
